The Housing Authority of the City of San Benito (SBHA) provides housing assistance to eligible households through its Public Housing and Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) programs funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. To be eligible for these programs, the household must qualify as a family as defined by HUD and the SBHA; have an annual income at or below HUD specified income limits; qualify on the basis of citizenship or eligible status of family members and the SBHA must verify references to make sure family will be good tenants.
The Public Housing (Low-Rent) program was established to provide decent and safe housing for eligible low-income families, the elderly and persons with disability. The SBHA is responsible for the management and operation of its three housing developments located within the City of San Benito: Palmville-a 100 unit mixed-population development that houses both elderly and disabled families; and its multi-family developments Vista Park (65 units) and La Hermosa (44 units). HOUSING CHOICE VOUCHER (Section 8)
The Housing Choice Voucher program allows very low income families to lease safe, decent, and affordable privately-owned rental housing within the City of San Benito that meets affordability and Housing Quality Standard Inspection requirements. Families may apply for assistance on dates and times as described within the "Applications" tab below.
The Housing Authority will be taking applications for both the Public Housing and Section 8 programs during the following days starting at 8:00 a.m. for the first 75 applicants only:

A Tenant ID Number will be assigned and provided at Waiting List days held on the following dates:

Changes to your application can be done daily during regular business hours by requesting a "Waiting List Change Form" or you may update your information on scheduled waiting list dates.
If you have applied for both programs (Public Housing and Section 8), your Tenant ID Number will be the same number for both lists.
